Meme from grondfic

Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.

It was absolute genius to pair Great Cthulhu with the Giant Squid, and locate R'lyeh beneath the Cave of the Inferi.

The risen Cthulhu's quest for True Love, following the cryptic siren-song of the Giant Squid all the way to Scotland was particularly affecting; and I cried buckets when Severus Snape appeared to facilitate Cthulhu's Rising, using the aeons-old invocation from the hatefil Necronomicon!

That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die.

Altogether a sterling effort! I'd recommend it from here to Kadath in the Cold Wastes!

... do you know how tempting it is to really write something like this? *giggles*
Aww, thank you! *blushes deeply* I have for so long wanted to write a romantic Cthulhu, and I suppose one of the biggest challenges I had was keeping him IC. But I think his frequent devouring of the crews of Muggle fishing vessels along his journey helped a little, and those scenes were fun to write! Another challenge was the love scene - keeping the tentacle play tasteful. I love tentacles, but I wanted it all to come across as sensual and tender rather than total eldritch freakiness.

I really feel a bit sad about having to leave one part of the fic I really liked right out - the letter to Voldemort from "Mr J.C. in Providence". But it didn't fit in with the main part of the story, and I think that Curwen and Co. deserve their own crossover fic, don't you? :D

Voldemort/Curwen! Ooooooh, you wicked person - a marriage made in Providence indeed!

I agree that the Muggle fishing vessels added that small touch of social realism (espcially when Cthulhu spat out The Black Pearl in disgust, and thus almost woke The Kraken - what a threesome THAT would have made!).

Hee hee, Voldie and Jos (and I definitely would include Simon O. with them) just seem to go together nicely, don't they?

And the Kraken - what a great idea! Thank you! May have to use that! And at least we now know why all the rum's gone! ;)

PS: I haven't forgotten that I have an unwritten story prompt from you on my LJ for this Meme. Sadly, Real Life has been intervening rather badly recently, but I WILL get to it - promise!

That's perfectly OK! I understand how Real Life is. It's slowed me down from writing all the fics I want to lately!
